Servo Press-fit and Inspection Stations

A press that only reaches a force cannot tell you whether the part is right. A bearing pressed into a bore with a hairline crack, a bushing pressed into a soft housing, a pin pressed into a hole that is slightly oversize - all of them reach the same tonnage and fail in service. A servo press-fit station measures force against displacement during the stroke, and judges the part on the shape of that curve, not on the peak.

What the Curve Tells You

A good press-fit has a characteristic profile: force rises as the part enters, plateaus or climbs steadily as it travels, and ends at a defined depth. A curve that rises too early means the part is misaligned or the bore is undersize. A curve that stays flat means the fit is loose. Both parts may reach the target force - only the curve distinguishes them.

Setting the Window

The station stores a force-displacement window for each product: minimum and maximum force at several points along the stroke, plus a final depth. Parts inside the window pass; parts outside are rejected and the curve is kept, so a drift in the process can be seen before it produces scrap.

Where It Is Used

Bearing and bushing press-fit, pin and shaft insertion, connector staking, and any assembly where the fit is the function. The station can be supplied stand-alone with manual loading or integrated into a line with automatic feeding and transfer.
