Jigs, Fixtures and Checking Gauges Made to Drawing

This range covers the tooling that surrounds a production process: welding fixtures that hold parts during joining, assembly fixtures that present parts to an operator or a machine, and checking gauges that verify a finished part without a CMM measurement.

Welding Fixtures

The design problem is distortion. Heat pulls the part as it is welded, so the fixture has to hold the joint closed without over-constraining the part, and the contact points have to survive the heat - copper or heat-treated pads at the clamps, and access left clear for the torch. A fixture that is quick to load is worth more on a production line than one that is theoretically more accurate but slow to use.

Assembly Fixtures

Locate the part, hold it square, leave both hands free. Most assembly fixtures fail not on accuracy but on ergonomics: the operator cannot get the part in without forcing it, so the operator stops using the locating feature.

Checking Gauges

A checking gauge is a go/no-go device: pin gauges for hole position, profile blocks for edges and contours, dial indicators for faces that must be flat or parallel. The gauge is built from the drawing, and its own accuracy is verified before delivery - a gauge that drifts is worse than no gauge, because it passes bad parts confidently.
