Gantry Automatic Loading and Unloading Machine

The gantry automatic loading and unloading machine is a Cartesian-structure automation unit paired with CNC lathes, using servo-driven axes and pneumatic or servo grippers to pick, clamp and unload workpieces automatically — ideal for continuous unattended machining of shafts, rings and disc parts.

  • Product Overview

A gantry automatic loading and unloading machine (gantry loader) is a Cartesian-coordinate automation unit that works in line with CNC lathes to pick, clamp and unload workpieces automatically. Driven by servo motors along X/Z linear axes, it takes blanks from a magazine, conveyor or vibratory feeder, orients and flips them as required, loads them into the lathe chuck or collet, and after machining removes the finished part and places it in the output magazine — upgrading one operator per machine to one operator for several machines, or fully unmanned continuous machining.

Compared with articulated robot arms, gantry loaders offer greater structural rigidity, travel customized to the machine layout, lower unit cost and a more stable cycle time. They are ideal for high-volume, long-run production of a single or a few part types. Combined with an automatic magazine and part-present / jam detection, they can run unattended for hours. Typical applications include automotive components, hydraulic valve parts, bearing rings, fasteners and connectors for turning and turn-mill operations.

📋 5. Quick Selection Guide by Machine and Part Size

Part SizeRecommended Model / TravelGripper PayloadReference Cycle Time
    Small parts (Φ5–30 mm, ≤1 kg)Cantilever type, X travel 800 mm5 kg8–15 s/part
    Medium parts (Φ30–80 mm, 1–5 kg)Gantry type, X travel 1200 mm15 kg10–20 s/part
    Large parts (Φ80–150 mm, 5–15 kg)Heavy-duty gantry, X travel 1500–2000 mm30 kg15–25 s/part

Note: actual cycle time = pick-and-place time + machining time + clamping time. The table above is a general reference; final selection depends on the machine model, chuck type, workpiece material and workshop layout.
